A Museum in memory of Toni Catany, Llucmajor, Mallorca.

The project aims to inspire through a space that reflects Catany's work. The intention of the project is to immerse the visitor in the photographer's world. The project is based on the key elements of of Catany's work; time, light and surrealism.
The project creates a space connected to eternity and the passing of time. The main piece - a concrete box that houses the exhibition halls - will be a space where the visitor gets lost. There will be no openings except from three skylights on the roof that allow eye contact with the outside. In this introspective space the visitor will forget its coordinates and references and will immerse in the work on display.

The outer skin of the box is made of rough concrete, its external expression reminds us of the roughness and grain of Catany's photography. The exhibition space - concrete box - forms the core piece of the project. It is raised in the middle of the central space leaving the grounf floor free as a visually open space, the box will appear suspended in the middle of this space creating a SURREAL staging.

To reinforce the feeling of lightness of the box, this one is separated from the existing perimeter wall creating an INTERSTICIAL SPACE OF LIGHT between wall and box. This light recreates the Mediterranean narrow streets. The exhibition box has a hole through which direct natural light enters all the way to the ground floor and the basement, where the courtyard reaches the lowest level via a large staircase.

The emptiness and the projection of the shadow act as a CLOCK OF SUN, marking the passage of the day, which in Catany’s work means EL PAS DEL TEMPS, EL VIATGE.
